As Norway’s capital has a near car-free centre, the best way to experience Oslo tours is by bike. On this 3-hour private tour, you’ll cover more ground on two wheels compared to walking and get a complete picture of Norway’s capital. You’ll learn about Norwegian culture, topics such as the social system, urban development, food culture, Norwegian politics and society, and the modern development of Oslo. See Oslo’s National Theatre and yellow-brick parliament building on Karl Johan's Gate before pedaling along century old alleyways and winding lanes. Following your attentive guide at a leisurely pace, cruise along the cycle paths that surround Oslofjord before exploring Aker Brygge -- a popular old shipyard that boasts captivating views of the harbor.

Visit beautiful Neoclassical neighbourhoods, full of brightly painted 18th and 19th century houses, and stop for drinks (own expense) at Akershus Castle, where you can admire its Renaissance architecture. Glide past the Royal Palace, home of the Norwegian royal family, and see Oslo City Hall where the annual Nobel Peace Prize ceremony takes place. Frognerparken is a must-see while in Oslo, so you’ll enjoy a break here to explore this stunning park independently. Amble around the incredible open-air exhibition of bronze and granite sculptures by Norway’s much-acclaimed sculptor, Gustav Vigeland, or simply relax on the tranquil lawns.

Make your way to Stortorget, Stockholm's original town square, which sits in the heart of Gamla Stan (Old Town). Admire the North German-style architecture of the surrounding buildings as you stroll along the cobblestone streets, many too narrow for cars since they were built for travelers on horseback or on foot. Listen as your guide points out the hidden pockets of historical interest that most visitors miss. Continue to Riddarholmen, a small islet and home to Birger Jarl Torg, the square named after the 13th-century founder of Stockholm.

View the statue of Jarl himself as you learn about his important role in the city's history. Stop by Riddarholmskyrkan, the 13th-century church that sits on the square. Many important Swedish figures are buried here in Stockholm's last standing medieval abbey, including Karl XII and Gustav II Adolf.  Stop at Wrangel Palace to see its centuries-old defense towers and Evert Taube's Terrace to admire spectacular views of Lake Mälaren.

Day 9

Free Day in Stockholm
