Avignon, a city in southeastern France’s Provence region, is set on the Rhône River. From 1309 to 1377, it was the seat of the Catholic popes. It remained under papal rule until becoming part of France in 1791. This legacy can be seen in the massive Palais des Papes (Popes' Palace) in the city center, which is surrounded by medieval stone ramparts.
Private 3-Hour Walking Tour of Avignon. You will meet with a local English-speaking guide for a private 3-hour walking tour of the historical centre of Avignon. A real open-air museum, Avignon is famous for being the capital of the papacy from 1309 to 1377. You will start your day by discovering Avignon by foot with your private guide. Your guide will show you the iconic monuments and the main outlines of its history, in one word the personality of Avignon. You will see the Horloge square, the gardens of the Cathedral, with an incredible view over the St Bénezet Bridge, or the Palace of the Popes square, for example, but also less known locations that are just as charming. Your tour will end with a delicious meal in a nice small restaurant, carefully selected by your local guide.
Day 5
A PRIVATE WINE TOUR WITH AN EXPERT SOMMELIER/ DRIVER/GUIDE TO CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE
Please be ready in the hotel lobby this morning where your private sommelier will collect you and bring you to the winemaking capital of Provence - the Châteauneuf-du-Pape where the wine takes root. You will enjoy VIP tours and tasting experiences at 3 of the best wineries in the region.

Food and Wine pairing for your lunch (included) in a Château situated in a vineyard.
Enjoy a meal in a typical Provencal restaurant, where you will enjoy Mediterranean food paired with Châteauneuf du Pape wines and a stunning view on the Châteauneuf du Pape vineyard. In the afternoon, visit the oldest Château of Châteauneuf du Pape and taste a selection of some of their best wines. We suggest you finish the tour with a private tasting of wines from another appellation of the Rhône Valley in an old cave situated in the old town of Châteauneuf du Pape. At the end of a truly memorable day, you will return to Avignon.
Day 6
PRIVATE DAY TOUR TO LUBERON AND THE LAVENDER FIELDS
Please be ready in the hotel lobby this morning to meet with an English-speaking driver/guide and depart in a luxury minivan for a full day tour to Luberon and the Lavendar Fields. These charming villages are located on top of rocky cliffs. Not easy to walk, but the result is worth it! Once at the top, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside.
Visit at least two or three villages and we recommend first visiting Cordes, then Roussillon. These two perched villages are must-sees in the Luberon. You can discuss options with your driver/guide on the day but usually have time to visit three towns at leisure. Return to Avignon in the late afternoon.
Day 7
FREE DAY IN AVIGNON
Today you can do some further exploring in Avignon at your leisure. The city is full of history and full of life. Capital of the Vaucluse and the Côtes du Rhône, seat of the popes and city of art and culture, theatre, cinema, museums, big stores and little shops, Avignon is a small city that has everything a big one has, and then some.
From medieval streets and houses to private mansions from the Renaissance, passing through all its old and enticing squares, some no bigger than a tiny lane... And the diverse dining opportunities, ranging from family-run restaurants, good and inexpensive to some of the greatest Michelin-starred chefs.
Day 8
PRIVATE DAY TOUR FROM AVIGNON TO NICE
You will meet a local English speaking driver/guide in the hotel this morning and depart Avignon in a luxury vehicle. You can discuss routing options with your driver today which may include some time at Cannes and the picturesque town of Grasse.
Nice. The winding, narrow alleyways of Nice’s Old Town is a highlight. Nothing has really changed much here since the 1700’s! Packed with deli’s, cafes, boutiques and bars, the center of the Old Town remains Cours Saleva, a huge market square that bustles in the summer! Fresh produce draws all the foodies to the market stalls, while the colors and fragrance of the fresh flowers will also make the visit worth it. There is also a very lively (and smelly) fish market on St. Francois. Flea Markets are held here every Monday and are a great place to do some souvenir shopping.
Hotel Negresco: 37, Promenade Des Anglais, 06000, NICE
2 nights at Hotel Negresco in a Deluxe Seaview Room inclusive of breakfast
Occupying an elegant building dating from the early 20th century, this sophisticated hotel is across the Promenade des Anglais from Neptune Beach on the Mediterranean Sea. It's an 18-minute walk from the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Nice and 6 km from Nice Côte d'Azur Airport.

During your tour, you will visit the charming capital of the Alpes-Maritimes county on the famous Promenade des Anglais. Enjoy the multicolored houses of the old town or walk along its beautiful Angels' bay. Your guide will tell you about Nice's history and stories about the people.
The tour can begin with a climb up to the Castle Hill which is ideally situated between the old town and the port and a favorite site as well for locals and visitors. Walk on shaded paths up to different view-points and take the opportunity for great pictures and to sip a drink or coffee before making your way down to the old town of Nice.
Discover the narrow streets where it is always wonderful to stroll. Enjoy local food on the daily food market on Saleya Square (except on Mondays) and try Socca and pissaladière (onion cake). From there, you will walk then from the Quay of the United States to the Promenade des Anglais. Discover facades of early 20th century hotels and admire the Art Deco buildings.
